Looks like we’re in for nasty weather. Is there a Bad Moon on the Rise?

This morning I arrived at the VA clinic at seven-thirty. That was twenty-four and a half hours early. Opps! I decided not to wait my turn and came on home.

When I returned home, Ella was dressed but laying on the bed. I lay back down on the bed also. I hadn’t slept well last night and planned to catch up. I didn’t.
One after another “notification chimes” popped up on my phone. So instead of sleeping, I lay there and read the Bible.

I’m starting a reading plan. The goal is to reread the Bible in ninrty days. This is Day one I read genesis one through five.
After getting past Creation, Adam and Eve in the garden, and Cain and Able; you get into the linages from Adam to Noah. Generally, it only lists father and eldest son. There are also places where it says, “And he had other sons and daughters.” It made me realize that I am an “other” in the Williams family tree. I’m not the oldest son. And looking up the family tree, the are many branches where my ancestors were not the first born son. As far as the biblical genealogist are concerned, I’m the least of the least, of the least, of the … well you get the picture.

Then I remembered the story of Gideon in Judges chapter six. Verses fourteen through sixteen recount this conversation between the Angel of the LORD and Gideon, “The LORD turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?” “But Lord,” Gideon asked, “how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.” The LORD answered, “I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites together.” Though the genealogist might not find us “others” worth notice, the Lord knows, cares for, and has purpose for us all.

Breakfast was late. So we called it brunch and made it hearty with pancakes, bacon, eggs, and hash browns.

Supper was egg salad sandwiches and peas. Dessert was 3-2-1 cake and strawberries. (See yesterday’s post for 3-2-1 cake)

Which is your favorite photo? My favorite is the middle one. Next would be second from bottom row and far right.

The curtains fell down again. The tension rod just didn’t have the strength to hold in place when it was tugged, pulled, or bumped,

The curtains are up, again. This time the brackets are screwed into the wall. I didn’t want to put holes in the wall of the apartment. However, no better options seemed available. If the curtains are pulled down again, they can stay down. My shakey legs and shaky hands are very uncomfortable on the stepladder. We’ve lived for a year without curtains. We can do so again.

Ella needed to go to Dollar Tree to buy bingo prizes. I told her we are NOT going to keep spending $15, like we did last week. We do not have discretionary income. She had $2 that she wanted to spend. I needed to get gasoline in the truck before going to the VA in Temple Friday morning. So we could stop at Dollar Tree also. “I won’t be long,” she said as she got out of the truck. Well, I figured that it couldn’t take long to spend $2.

It turns out that it takes twenty-six minutes to spend thirteen dollars and thirty-three cents.

It only took me ten minutes to spend forty-four dollars and thirty-seven cents on gasoline.

Before going to sleep I finished my Bible reading plan by continuing Genesis six through sixteen. One point caught my attention in the recounting of Abram’s story. Abram “called on the name of the Lord.” This was way before Moses was told that God’s name is I AM. And Hagar called Him “The God Who Sees Me.” We’ve reached the naming of Ishmael but not yet at the birth of Isaac.
