We made a stop at the credit union to deposit (or rather redeposit) the money that was taken out so we could make change at the Mother’s Day cookies sale. Grandies made $180something. The unsold cookies were given to the Sonshine Friends Preschool.

This was the day to pick up our monthly food order from Hill Country Community Mission. This is something that we began doing in November of 2021. This has allowed us to buy less. However, as I’m sure you are painfully aware, prices for everything have skyrocketed. This means that, though we purchase less, the spending is about the same

On to a related subject. Thanks to switching health insurance at the first of the year, we spend nothing out-of-pocket for the insurance, it is taken directly from the social security payments. Nearly all of our medications are now completely covered with no copay.

And, still on topic, our vehicle expenses have dropped substantially since replacing the GMC truck with the smaller Chevy HHR. We’ve also changed insurance and cut it nearly in half.

These items will go to the Summer Snack Program for Kids. A lot of children (and their parents) rely on the school lunch program during school season. However during the summer, that source is not there. That’s where the SSP comes into play. The program is administered through Operation Liberty Hill and supported by Cross Tracks Church through Grandies.

These items were passed along to the Hills of Leander apartments in-house food pantry. This food pantry was started by the residents during the extended power and water outage during the ice and snow storm of February 2021. Management has allowed us to keep it going and using cupboard and refrigerator space in the kitchen off of the great room/community room.

Day 76
Luke 17:1 Jesus said to his disciples: “Things that cause people to stumble are bound to come, but woe to anyone through whom they come.
Luke 24:52 Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy.

Meatloaf made with ground turkey,  Green beans with garlic, and sweet potatoes.  The meal came frozen from Sprouts. It was large enough to share, which we did. I don’t like sweet potatoes and they were the best thing on this platter. I only had a bite or two of the meatloaf before realizing that it contained onions to with I’m severely allergic. Though neither of us ate much of it, we thank God for providing the food for which we paid nothing.
