2022 December 12

Day     rain 20%     67°     Cloudy. Areas of fog this morning then patchy fog this afternoon. A slight chance of showers this afternoon. Highs around 70. Southeast winds 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.
Night     rain 29°     56°      Cloudy. Near steady temperature in the upper 60s. South winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

Actually, I worked until 5:30. Five appointments all showed up as I was preparing to leave. So I stayed to get them through. Appointments go quicker at the checkout because they’ve already chosen which package they are buying. That means the photographer spends less time checking them out and getting back to photograph the next client. That does not mean that the children are rushed through the Santa visit. It’s just less time between photo shoots.

It was a crazy day. The were times of back to back Santa visits followed by times of inactivity – repeat.

A set of 10 month old twins (boy/girl) the girl wanted nothing to do with Santa, though the photographer captured a quieter moment. The little boy, with plenty of smiles, was perfectly content on Santa’s knee. When Mom came to get him, he twisted out of her grasp and lunged back to Santa. He was still kicking and screaming as they stayed him into the stroller.

I had a family of four with ages from four to 10. After the pictures and visit when they were leaving, the older boy (to test Santa) said, “Do you know my birthday?”  I said, “I’m not sure, January 23rd*?”  The mother’s mouth dropped open and said, “No, that’s the other boy’s and it’s the 24th.” Well, even Santa gets it a little wrong sometimes.

Speaking of birthdays. Santa asked another boy if he was 6. He said that he was 7 and it was his birthday. Santa said, “Oh that’s why I thought you were still 6.  Happy birthday and merry Christmas.”
