2023 January 03

Fried potatoes, bacon, 3 scrambled eggs, and 2 slices of toast for each of our breakfasts. Yeah I was hungry this morning.

Today marks seventeen years since Ella’s cancer surgery. She remains cancer free. Thank God.

It was such a nice day we ate on the patio. This is the doctored up lentils and kielbasa from Sunday. Also some homemade cornbread.

Day        70°     Partly cloudy. Highs in the mid 70s. West winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.
Night     50°Mostly clear. Lows in the upper 40s. West winds 5 to 10 mph.

In search of a small dinning room or kitchen table. We traveled around but found none that fit our needs.

Today we drove 19 miles in 1 hour 12 minutes with 7 places visited including home.

We struck out with buying a table. Oh, we will keep looking, just not today.

When we arrived home it was time for Mexican Train dominoes. Ella went while I opted to stay home.

This coming Sunday, January 6th, is Epiphany, the visit of the magi. I read the narration in Matthew’s gospel chapter two. As is my want to do, I asked “who, what, when, why, and how” as I examined the role of people within the story. The first question I came up with is, “Since the wise men were following the star, why did they stop at Harod’s palace?” My second question is the one I really want to pursue. “Why did none of the Jews (other than Harod who wanted to murder the child) seek the child. They heard the testimony of the magi. They even dug through their records looking for the birthplace. Why didn’t they follow up on that or even go with the wise men? I think that there is a sermon there.

Well that’s all for today. Come back tomorrow.

Goodnight and God bless
