I WENT to the Tuesday Coffee at the Over The Hill Gang this morning. They were 11 of us there. Ella, though still not feeling 100%, went to coffee with friends in the community room at the apartments.
Today Was Grocery Pick Up Day From The Food Pantries
GROCERIES picked up from Hill Country Community Ministries at the Austin Community College, San Gabriel Campus in Leander. This is a free program that is open to anyone who lives in one of five zip codes. There are no income guidelines to meet.
GROCERIES pick up from Brighter Days Food Pantry at the Leander Church of Christ. This program’s only guideline that I’m aware of, to be a senior citizen. They do also have a similar program on a weekday evening (Wednesday I believe) that had no age restrictions though there may be some income brackets – I’m not sure because I don’t use that service.
Day 78° partly cloudy. High as in the lower 80s. West winds around 5 mph becoming Southeast with Gus up to 20 mph this afternoon. Night 53°, mostly cloudy. Not as cool. More humid with lows in the lower 60s. Southwinds 5 to 10 miles per hour with gust up to 20 mph.
BROCCOLI cheese, rice, and salad shrimp for lunch. Ella suggested this. We had all of the ingredients on hand so I made it in the Instapot. I should have cooked the rice first and then added the soup and shrimp to heat through. As it was, the rice burned to the bottom and didn’t cook through when pressure cooked. I did manage to get the rice cooked by setting the Instapot on saute lowest heat setting and then constantly stirring. Without the rice, I think this would be good over noodles like chow mein or lo mein.

JENNY and her friend and co-worker, Thomas, came to our apartment to assess tripping hazards and suggest possible solutions. This inspection is done through a program at the hospital and evidently there are funds available to purchase shelving or storage units for us. They will be coming back on Saturday to help us install some type of storage and possible set aside some things to sell.
