2020 January 28 Tuesday in Liberty Hill, Texas

loudy isn’t quite right. It is foggy. It rained overnight, not much, but enough to leave some puddles. I believe the fog is due to the rain not removing all of the moisture from the air.

ith the clouds and the fog in the air, there was no sunrise today.

ight around ten o’clock the sun began playing peek-a-boo. It would show through for a few minutes and then crawl back under the blanket of clouds.

Today we went to the senior center in Leander for lunch. It is really sad to see it under used. It used to be so busy that occasionally they had to turn people away because there wasn’t enough room. Today there were only five including Ella and me. If It weren’t for the fact that the Meals On Wheels and Head Start lunches are prepared here, this facility would probably be closed down.

argarita’s, a local restaurant, was helping with a fundraiser for our church’s restoration of the 150 year old chapel. By presenting a coupon, the restaurant is donating 20% of the bill to the fund. Tonight only and from 4 to 9. Not surprising that, a lot of our friends were there tonight.

God bless and g’nite

he sky looked the same all day. This photo could have been taken at 8 a.m., noon, or 5 p.m.

h yes, fog. Let is not forget the fog. We didn’t go anywhere today so there was no need to drive in the fog. As a matter of fact the only time I left the warmth of my home was to take out the trash, dump the black water tank, and walk a couple hundred steps to the mailbox and back.

think I may feel a little better than last week at this time. That by no stretch of the imagination means that I’m feeling good. The pain from the shingles across my abdominal area sometimes mimics hunger, which I find very strange.

God bless and g’nite

2020 January 16 Thursday

2020 January 16 Thursday in Liberty Hill, Texas

An RV is a bubble of familiarity in liminal space.

e got our forty percent of rain between eight thirty and ten o’clock. I don’t think that we made it anywhere near the predicted high of sixty seven.

s a nod to “Throwback Thursday,” there is the following photo from 2010. This was our second or third Iowa winter in an RV. We went through several more before moving to Texas for three seasons out of four. This is known as a white out. There is enough snow in the air that visibility is drastically reduced.

n a related note, that is our van to the left in the photo. I really miss our conversation van(s). We had two identical conversion vans, with the exception that one was a Chevy and the other a GMC. My mother would have said, “Same difference.”

e did a lot of camping in those vans. Our first trip to Texas was in one of them. I traded one for Rudolf the Red Nose pickup that we now have. The other developed electrical problems. After it had sat for many years unpaired, I sold it for salvage. I regret that often.

oday we had lunch at the Over The Hill Gang*. I was feeling a little better today than yesterday. Because I was feeling better, we stayed and played canasta after lunch. I was really ready to be home by the time the game was over.

t was still early afternoon when we arrived home. There was a light fog in the air. The fog became heavier as the day wore on.

God bless and g’nite

2020 January 15 Wednesday in Liberty Hill, Texas

Ella posted, If people don’t see as much of us as usual its because Tom is fighting shingles and I have been battling an UTI. Between doctors, tests and the need for rest, we’ve had to cut back on our usual schedule.

t is obvious to me that sleep and rest are not the same thing. I’ve been sleeping at night and napping during the day. It’s not because I’m sleepy, but because I’m in pain. I do not feel rested.

gain with the fog? As I looked outside this morning, I could see that the fog was no where near as thick as yesterday.

ixty seven degrees in the middle of January is still surprising to me. Over Sixty years of northern winters heave left an imprint on me that eight years of southern living haven’t erased.

randies** today did not have as many people as last week. I think there were only 17 this morning. Normally Ella and I stay and play canasta after the meeting. Today, I was hurting too much stay, so we came home.

.

made a couple of quick ink sketches today. My hands have become so shaky in the last few years that I don’t do much of that anymore.

pproaching sunset at quarter to five. And at sundown. There was no trace of the sun.

God bless and g’nite
