  • 2019 October 31 Thursday in Liberty Hill, Texas

nce the sun came up … yes,

we had sunshine! After days of fog, mist, rain, and gloom, the sun began to warm everything, especially my soul. The above photo is the sun lighting the living room curtain. Although it only reached 52° today, it was over 80° inside when we returned home. Passive solar heat produced by the sunlight coming through our large, west-facing windows. However, we have several more below freezing nights this week.

early every Thursday I post something about being at the Over the Hill Gang. So I did a video walkthrough to show the place to you. Video. And below are some photos to show how it fills up at lunch time.

es the police are on hand at nearly every meeting. They come and greet people and hand us the trays as we go through the serving line, then stay and eat. One of them (Robert) also makes ice cream in the machine every week, unless called away on duty.

hese are the leftovers from lunch. Many will come back for second servings or to fill a to-go container. I’ve only taken one item home. That was some exceptionally good pinto beans and ham several years ago. I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned that it’s $6.00 per person for our meals. However, if you bring a dessert, salad, or side dish to share, then you eat for free. We often bring a dessert. Ella likes to make bread pudding and I will occasionally make a peach cobbler that people seem to enjoy.

ontinued emptying of the topper in preparation for the shelving I will install. I have 2x4s cut to size but not the plywood. I’m also working to water/weather proof it because our bug-out bags and emergency food supplies will be stored on those shelves. We have used the FEMA recommendations as guides for what we carry. I also recommend ready.gov as a good starting place for preparedness. I’m not an alarmist. However, especially when you live in an RV, it’s a good idea to have an evacuation plan. I’d rather plan and never need, than to need and never planned. It worked for Noah. (Genesis chapters 6–9)

God bless and g’nite.
