It was after breakfast but prior to running the errands listed below, when our door bell rang. Actually our doorbell doesn’t so much ‘ring’ as ‘buzz’. If you are familiar with the loud and annoying sound of a cicadas two note mating buzz, our door bell sounds like the higher of the cicadas ‘song’. “But, Tom,” you say, “who was at the door?” It was a delivery person delivering some medication from my urologist’s pharmacy. They have to be hand delivered and signed for. Signed for twice actually. The delivery person had me sign his hand held electronic gizmo. Then later I was required to electronically sign an online document.
WE had only a few slices of bread left in the cupboard so we made a stop at Hill Country Community Ministries Community Cupboard and picked up three loaves of bread, some Roma tomatoes, and some grape tomatoes.

OUR next stop was Walgreens so that Ella could get her prescriptions and (judging from the shopping cart) some other things. At the same time I purchased a two pack of uniball pens.
ALL of my writing in the journal books had run my pens dry. These weren’t exactly the pens I was seeking. I prefer a very fine pointed pen for sketching and the only roller ball pens available at Walgreens have a bold nib. I suppose they will be fine for writing.

ONCE we were home I put the pens to the test. Rather I should say I tasked one of the pens with writing in the journal. It writes as advertised, smoothly and boldly. I was a little concerned that the rich black ink would bleed through the pages. As I am writing on both sides of the paper, bleed-through would be unacceptable. Fortunately the journal paper is of a heavier stick than common notebook sheets. And the ink appears to dry nearly instantly so as to neither smudge or soak through. The only real adjustment on my part is the need to write larger. These broader pen tips are not well suited to small scrawls upon the page.
DAY 86° Mostly cloudy this morning then partly cloudy with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. High in the upper 80s. Southeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20%. NIGHT 69° partly cloudy with a slight chance of showers the thunderstorms in the evening then mostly cloudy after midnight. Low in the upper 60s South winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20%.
SO intent was I on my writing that lunch time came and went unnoticed. Once I realized the time, I began searching through the cupboard. I found there a package of heat and eat stew. If it were stew in a can I would think it a common and ordinary thing. However haveing the stew come in a plastic bag that can be torn open with your hands is somewhat of a novelty to me. Who needs a P-38? Who even knows what a P-38 is and what it’s used for? Okay before I become toio far off on a tangent, I opened the package of stew and squeezed its contents into a microwave safe bowl. The process was much like getting toothpaste from the tube. Just slowly roll it toward the open end. I microwaved for two minutes and announced to Ella that lunch was ready and that I had been “slaving away over a hot microwave for two minutes.”
