🔴 ADAM: My son arrived around 11:30, and I was glad to see him. After I settled into his car, we headed to Chili’s for lunch, where we enjoyed a meal and caught up on what had been happening in our lives. He told me about his new job, and we talked about how it was going so far, including the things he liked and the challenges he was learning to manage. We also discussed his future plans and the possibilities he was considering. It was good to hear what he hoped to do next and to share a few thoughts as he figured out his direction. We spoke briefly about his kids, too, and exchanged updates about how they were doing. Our conversation then turned to my books and writing in general. I told him about what I had been working on and shared some of my thoughts about the writing process, while he listened and offered his perspective. Lunch gave us a comfortable setting to talk without feeling rushed, and I appreciated having time together. After we finished eating, we came home and continued our conversation for a while longer. We talked about a few more things, enjoying the quiet chance to spend time together. It was a simple visit, but it felt meaningful to catch up face to face and hear about his life. By the time he left, I felt grateful for our lunch and our conversation.
