Eight years ago, on July 30, 2012, Ella was standing next to a single corn plant that was twice her height. We did not plant the corn. It grew from seeds from the bird feeder. It never produced an ear with kernels.This afternoon (2-4) was drop off day for food for the Kids Summer Snack Program, Operation Liberty Hill (food pantry), and aluminum cans. Louine, Charlotte, Ella, and I sat under the worship center awning and accepted the donations that people dropped off. This it’s to be a monthly ministry. We are just getting it started. It wasn’t a large turnout, but anything is better than nothing, right?Ella and I will go through the cans, pulling off pull tabs (for Ronald McDonald charities) and crushing cans to sell for the aluminum. The “can money” helps support Grandies’s various ministries.The remainder of the day was spent in peaceful contemplation … of TV, YouTube, puzzles, and games.
