I found a very old handwritten recipe for basic cookies. It starts withl a cup of lard to weigh you add the cups of brown sugar, the cups of flour, three eggs, half teaspoon of baking powder, vanilla, and salt.
No measurements for salt and vanilla. No baking directions for heat or time. No directions whether to roll and cut, our drop cookies.
I made them guessing at salt and vanilla. Hand rolled ping pong size balls of dough and slightly flattened into baking sheets. Then baked at three hundred and fifty degrees for about fourteen minutes (until the tops began to crack).




We made a trip to pick out bingo prizes. Before Ella went into the store, I reminded her to get more poker chips for covering the bingo cards. Nope. No chips purchased. Next time.
